Thames Ditton

Thames Ditton Conservation Area was designated by Surrey County Council on 31 July 1973 and extended by Elmbridge Borough Council on 29 July 1987 and again on 7 October 2009. It is located around the historic core of the village and includes the 13th century Church of St Nicholas (Grade l listed), the former Home of Compassion (Grade ll* listed) and a number of other important listed buildings.

A Character Appraisal and Management Proposals document (endorsed in 2009) has been produced for both conservation areas through collaborative working between the local community, councillors and officers and facilitated by consultants.

Giggs Hill Green

Giggs Hill Green Conservation was designated by Surrey County Council on 31 July 1973 and extended by Elmbridge Borough Council on 29 July 1987 and again on 7 October 2009. The conservation area is based around Giggs Hill Green which has the character of a traditional village green and is lined by a series of modest developments from the 18th to the 21st century interspersed with mature trees.
