Let’s swap together for good during Great Big Green Week

The UK’s biggest celebration of climate action and nature protection is back from 7 to 15 June. Over a million people across the country, including right here in Elmbridge, will come together to take positive steps for friends and family, climate, and nature. 

The theme of Great Big Green Week 2025 is ‘Let’s Swap Together for Good’. It is a call to action for everyone to make simple swaps that will collectively add up to substantial changes and contribute to making our communities better, greener and healthier for the future. 

There are easy green swaps that you can make: 

Clothes swaps: 

• Clothes swaps as an alternative fun, eco-friendly way to refresh your wardrobe and help others in your community. 
• Donate wearable clothes to local charities 
• If too worn to donate, bag them up and put them out alongside your weekly bin collection. They will be recycled into useful materials like padding and cloths. 

Repair cafes:

Got broken items gathering dust? Visit your local repair cafes to fix them. 
Visit Oxshott Net Zero or Walton-on-Thames Repair Cafés where skilled volunteers can fix everything from electronics to garden tools. 

Share your love for nature and sustainability 

Bring your green skills to local environmental groups 

• Join in-bloom groups, community gardens, or allotments 
• Help with conservation tasks like habitat protection and woodland care 

Become a sustainability champion and support local climate initiatives
