How we investigate a pollution problem

Part of
Report a pollution problem

After we receive a complaint, we may make contact with the subject of the complaint and begin an investigation.

If we receive supporting evidence, and a 'statutory nuisance' is  witnessed, then a notice to prevent further nuisance can be served on the person responsible.

If we witness a breach of the notice, your evidence can be submitted to court. You may also need to attend court to give evidence.
