Council Tax Support

Help to pay your Council Tax, if you are on a low income or receive benefits.

Eligibility: How Council Tax Support is worked out

What you get depends on:

  • your circumstances - for example, your income, number of children, benefits and residency status
  • your household income - this includes savings, pensions and your partner's income
  • if your children live with you
  • if other adults live with you

Support is restricted to the level of a Council Tax band D charge.  If you live in a band G or H property, you are not eligible for Council Tax Support, unless you receive a qualifying disability benefit.

Use our benefits calculator to see if you can get a reduction on your Council Tax.
