Statement of accounts
The statement of accounts is a statutory, formal document which sets out a high level view on how money has been spent and where money has come from.
Since it is designed to meet specific government and accounting requirements, it is a technical document which means that it is not always easy to understand.
2024 to 2025
The statutory audit of the statement of accounts was completed on 26 February 2026. The auditors have not issued their certificate of completion of the audit at this time as they cannot formally conclude the audit and issue an audit certificate until they have received confirmation from the National Audit Office that the audit of the Whole of Government Accounts is complete for the year ended 31 March 2025.
Following completion of the value for money review, the council’s external auditors issued their audit report in November 2025.
2023 to 2024
The statutory audit of the statement of accounts was completed on 27 February 2025. Following completion of the value for money review, the council’s external auditors issued their audit report in January 2025.
2022 to 2023
The statutory audit of the statement of accounts was completed on 20 March 2024 and the audit findings report was issued on the same day. Following completion of the value for money review the council’s external auditors issued their annual audit report in February 2024.
