Current adopted development plan

Overview

The council’s adopted development plan is made up of the Core Strategy and Development Management Plan. Together, these two documents set out the current planning policies for Elmbridge that are used to assess planning applications and make decisions about development in the borough.

The Core Strategy sets out strategic policies, such as the identified quantum of development and housing target for the plan period. The Development Management Plan sets out the detailed policies that planning applications are assessed against.

Development plans set out planning policies and proposals for how the communities and places in the borough will develop over a period of up to 15 years. The council’s current adopted development plan covers the period from 2011 to 2026. A new development plan is needed soon to guide how the borough develops over the next 15 years.
