Key commitments

Find out more about our 5 key commitments: attract, develop, engage, care and grow.

Our 5 commitments provide focus for the organisation to grow and enable us to deliver our Vision 2030, which is underpinned by a high performing council. Our 5 commitments are:

  • attract: we need to attract high calibre employees who are motivated and high-performing
  • develop: we need to give our people the chance to learn, develop and flourish through an organisation-wide approach to identifying learning and development needs
  • engage: we need to maiximise engagement with all employees across all our workplace locations, remain an employer of choice and have a committed and empowered workforce who understand how their roles fit into the overall aims of the organisation
  • care: we aim to create an inclusive environment where employees can thrive, feel accomplished and return to work refreshed, recognising that valuing equality and diversity drives innovation and helps us better serve our community
  • grow: with transformation and improvement hinged on developing our people, we must ensure efficient management processes, embrace new technologies and sustainability and foster leadership and succession planning to retain talent

The key commitments are evaluated on an annual basis to ensure continued alignment with our organisational priorities.

We believe every colleague has an important role to play in the successful implementation of our strategy. Our leadership team, managers and all employees are expected to commit to a set of actions and behaviours to help us achieve our ambitions.

Our two-yearly delivery plans set out the steps needed to deliver on our commitments and ensure we can be agile and continue to respond to the changing needs of our workforce.
