Work on the new skatepark at the Leg O’Mutton Field in Cobham is now moving ahead and is scheduled to start next week and is expected to be completed in time for the summer school holiday.
This is welcome news for the local community, who have been developing this exciting project for the last three years, following a well‑supported consultation which saw 199 responses from local riders and residents helping to shape the design for this new space.
As part of our commitment to investing in high‑quality play spaces and inclusive outdoor facilities across the borough, we are jointly funding this project with Surrey County Council, the Cobham Village Partnership and Cobham and Downside Residents Association, with design and construction by Maverick Skateparks.
The skatepark will be a welcome addition to the area and will complement the wider improvements which have just been completed at Cobham Recreation Ground, including the refurbishment of the play area and the upgrade of the outdoor green gym.
Cllr Simon Waugh, Portfolio Holder for Leisure, Culture and Commercial Strategy, said:
Seeing work begin on the new Cobham Skatepark is fantastic news for the community. This project has been shaped by local riders and residents, and it marks an exciting step forward in providing high‑quality, inclusive spaces for young people and families. Together with the refurbishment of the play area and the upgrade of the outdoor green gym at Cobham Recreation Ground, this investment will create a vibrant, welcoming environment for everyone to enjoy.
