As the weather becomes cooler and wetter, it can be harder to stay active. If you're living with mobility issues or a long-term health condition such as cancer, heart disease, diabetes, dementia or asthma, getting started can feel even more challenging.
That's where Elmbridge wellbeing walks can help. Delivered in partnership with Ramblers Wellbeing Walks, the programme offers free, friendly and supportive walks designed to help people improve their physical and mental wellbeing through gentle exercise. Walking can help manage symptoms, build confidence and support a healthier lifestyle. It's also a low-impact activity that's kind to your joints.
An inclusive walk takes place every Monday at 11.30am from Xcel Leisure Complex in Walton-on-Thames. The accessible 30 to 45-minute stroll or wheel follows a level towpath route. Friends, family members and carers are all welcome, and those who wish can stay for a coffee afterwards.
The programme also includes a range of shorter, slower-paced walks across Claygate, Esher, Molesey and Walton-on-Thames. These relaxed circular walks last between 45 and 90 minutes, following easy routes at a gentle pace.
Led by trained volunteer walk leaders, all walks are free to join and open to everyone, making them a great way to get active, meet new people and enjoy the outdoors.
