There’s no better time than early in the New Year to make a resolution that truly matters: looking after your health and wellbeing. Whether you want to get active, boost your mental health or get support, Elmbridge offers a wide range of free and affordable opportunities to help you feel your best.

Get moving outdoors

  • Free wellbeing walks and cycle rides
    Our friendly walks and rides are completely free and no booking is required. New members in January receive a free Costa Coffee voucher!
    You can also explore inclusive options like our weekly inclusive walk and wheel (1km route from Xcel) and partner-led walks, including Princess Alice bereavement walks and Mary Frances Trust mental health walks.
     
  • Elmbridge Parks Tennis
    Enjoy tennis for just £5.75 per hour or an annual pass for £40, covering up to five family members with no extra cost for court bookings. Apply for membership pass. Free passes available for those on benefits: email the Parks Tennis team to apply.

  • Exercise referral programme
    Tailored support for recovery, rehabilitation and overall wellbeing. Visit wellbeing programme, email the exercise referral team or call  01932 260300 to learn more.
     
  • Specialist classes:
    • Parkinson’s Move and Shout: improve motor skills and quality of life.
    • Move Through Menopause: stay active, manage symptoms, and connect with others. Email the course coordinator.
    • Big Sister Project: Empower girls aged 9–15 to feel “sport ready” with free or discounted memberships.
       
  • Accessible fitness
    The Xcel gym includes equipment designed for wheelchair users and those with limited mobility.
     
  • Free yoga for mental wellbeing – run by Sport in Mind. Fun, casual drop-in Yoga session for people experiencing mental health problems. All equipment is provided with all abilities welcome! Sign up for the course.

  • Free ladies’ swimming at Hurst Pool
    Every Wednesday, 5–7pm until end of February 2026. Book now or email Hurst Pool.  
     
  • Free 12-Week physical activity programme in Cobham
    For ages 50+ managing long-term health conditions. Held at Cobham United Church, 38 Stoke Road, KT11 3BD. Starting 13 January to 2 April 2026. 2 weekly 1-hour session Tuesday and Thursday 2pm to 3pm. Course covering yoga, boxing cardio, HIIT, weights (dumdbells), flexibility and balance. Support for mental and emotional wellbeing

  • Women’s sanctuary, choir and Charis café run by Voices of Hope. Safe, supportive spaces for women affected by violence or abuse. Every Wednesday from 9:30am to 2:30pm. St. John's Church, Walton-on-Thames KT12 3JQ and Elmbridge Family Centre, West Molesey, KT8 2LX. Find out how to join.
     
  • The patient cancer support group | Shepperton Medical Practice,  Shepperton Court Drive, Shepperton TW17 8EJ| second Tuesday of every month at 1:30pm.
     
  • Bereavement Café | Princess Alice Hospice, West End Lane, Esher, KT10 8NA | Visit Princess Alice Hospice, email  or call  01372 468811 for more info.
     
  • Surrey Minority Ethnic Forum (SMEF) - nutrition for cancer support. More info.
     
  • WorkWell. Free one-to-one coaching service that helps Surrey residents with health issues and/or disabilities start, stay or return to work. More info.
