Do you enjoy spending time outdoors and want to make a positive difference to the local environment?
Elmbridge Borough Council is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to join its countryside volunteer teams at Claygate Common and Weybridge Heath.
The Claygate conservation volunteer group meets on the second Wednesday and the Weybridge group on the third Wednesday of the month from 9:30am to 12:30pm. You can stay for as long or as little as you wish.
Volunteers help with practical conservation tasks such as woodland and heathland management, supporting local wildlife and improving habitats for future generations.
No experience is needed, just an interest in nature and a willingness to get involved. Tools, training and refreshments are provided, making it a great opportunity to learn new skills, meet like-minded people and enjoy the outdoors.
A countryside volunteer said:
Volunteering has given me the chance to learn about local wildlife, enjoy the fresh air and make new friends. It's rewarding to know that even a few hours can make a real difference to our local environment.
To register or find out more, email countrysidevolunteers@elmbridge.gov.uk. You will be sent information on the meeting point for each session.
In addition to the Claygate Common and Weybridge Heath groups, we also have weekly conservation volunteering opportunities. Find out more.
Whether you can join one session or several, your support will help protect and enhance some of Elmbridge’s most valued natural spaces.
Volunteers play a vital role in supporting our annual countryside and woodland management work, helping to improve biodiversity and keep our green spaces healthy for wildlife and visitors alike.
Look out for details of the conservation management works planned for this autumn and winter.
