Fresh upgrades at Cobham recreation ground

We’re pleased to let residents know that improvement works at Cobham recreation ground have now started as part of our proposed three-year, £4.5 million investment programme to upgrade play spaces across the borough from 2026 to 2029.  

The project is expected to take 4 to 5 weeks, depending on weather conditions. 

What’s changing 

Play area improvements 

• a brand new zip line
• replacement play equipment for the existing slide tower
• new safety surfacing to replace older sections 

Outdoor gym upgrade 

The existing outdoor gym will be fully replaced with modern calisthenics style equipment, offering improved facilities for users of all ages. 

Protecting the park 

Although measures are in place to protect the grass, ongoing wet weather and waterlogged ground may cause some temporary damage. Any affected areas will be restored after the works finish.

We are committed to delivering high-quality outdoor spaces for our communities, and the improvements at Cobham Recreation Ground are an important part of that work. This investment will provide modern, exciting facilities for children and adults alike. 

Cobham and Downside Ward Councillors, added: 

We know how well used and valued the play area and outdoor gym are by local families, residents and visitors. These improvements and the new calisthenics equipment will make the recreation ground an even better, safer and more enjoyable place for everyone.  

We appreciate residents’ patience while the works take place and look forward to welcoming everybody back to enjoy the improved space once the works are completed.
