Finding a Voice: an evening with award-winning poet Raymond Antrobus

Join acclaimed poet and author Raymond Antrobus MBE at Riverhouse Barn Arts Centre on Wednesday 2 September at 7.30pm for a special talk about his powerful memoir, 'The Quiet Ear'.

How do you find your voice in a world that doesn't always listen? This inspiring evening offers a rare opportunity to hear from one of the UK's most celebrated contemporary writers as he reflects on growing up deaf, finding his voice through poetry, and the D/deaf artists, performers and writers whose stories helped shape his own.

Diagnosed as deaf at the age of six, Raymond explores themes of sound, identity and belonging in 'The Quiet Ear' offering a moving perspective on creativity, resilience and inclusion.

A winner of the Ted Hughes Award, Somerset Maugham Award and Sunday Times Young Writer of the Year Award, Raymond is one of the UK's most celebrated literary voices. The talk will be chaired by Surrey-based anthologist Ana Sampson and will be BSL-interpreted.
