Elmbridge Borough Council is proud to have achieved the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) Silver Award, in recognition of support for the Armed Forces community.
The ERS scheme encourages employers to support defence personnel, veterans and their families, and inspire other organisations to do the same.
To be awarded a silver recognition, organisations must demonstrate a proactive commitment including:
- providing 5 extra days leave for Reservists
- having supportive HR policies in place for Reservists, veterans, Cadet Force Adult Volunteers and the spouses and partners of those serving in the Armed Forces
Achieving the Silver Award is a significant milestone and reflects our ongoing commitment to supporting those who serve, or have served, in the Armed Forces, as well as their families.
In recognition of this achievement, you may see the silver award logo added to our website and in other communications. Our name will also be added to the list of silver awardees which can be found on the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme website.
Armed Forces Champion for Elmbridge, Councillor Barry Cheyne commented:
“In being granted the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme Silver Award, Elmbridge has achieved an important milestone. We all, councillors and officers, recognise the invaluable contribution made by the Armed Forces community and we are committed to being a flexible, inclusive employer.
By supporting our Armed Forces, their families and our veterans, we strengthen not only our workforce but also our connection to those who have pledged themselves to the protection of our nation and of our freedom."
