Elmbridge to benefit from popular on-demand bus service

Helping people travel around Elmbridge

Surrey connect is an on-demand bus service, helping people travel around Elmbridge and into Mole Valley, where there are no traditional bus services operating. The service means residents can book a bus for when you need it and utilise public transport.

How it works

All journeys must be booked at least 30 minutes before travel or up to seven days in advance. They can be booked:

  • Online at www.surreyconnect.org.uk
  • Via the ‘Surrey connect’ app – available from Google Play (Android) or the App Store (Apple)

Surrey connect is not available if a current local bus route can be used for the same journey. If there is not a Surrey connect bus stop within walking distance to you or at your destination, please contact surreyconnect@surreycc.gov.uk and they will arrange for a virtual bus stop to be created.  All virtual bus stops will need to be safe and accessible for passengers and other road users.

Travel times and cost

Buses run Monday to Friday from 7am to 7pm and on Saturdays from 8am to 6pm. Fares are charged based on how many miles are travelled starting from £2 for adults. If you have a free bus pass or a Surrey LINK card (for anyone aged 20 and under) you can use these on this service.

Additional stops offered

Working with Surrey connect, Elmbridge Borough Council has provided permission to use some of our car parks as rest stops between routes. With The Heath South car park - Weybridge , Mayfield Road car park -Walton station and the Civic Centre car park - Esher initially being agreed and then future options for Walton Road car park in East Molesey and New Berry Lane car par in Hersham being considered.

More about Surrey connect

When using the Surrey connect service, you can also get rewarded for doing so via the BetterPoints app. Simply sign up on the BetterPoints website and let it track your journey and you’ll earn points that can be turned into prizes.

Elmbridge Community Transport

Our Community Transport service continues to be a highly valued support for our more vulnerable residents across Elmbridge. This service remains very much in place and will continue to operate as normal.

Surrey Connect is an additional transport option now available in Elmbridge, offering even more choice for residents. It sits alongside our existing transport services, not as a replacement, helping to expand the range of ways people can travel around the borough.

For residents who may find it difficult to walk to a bus stop, particularly older or more vulnerable people, our Community Transport team provides a reliable service, including door-to-door with Dial a Ride.

For Elmbridge Community Transport membership or booking enquiries, email commtransport@elmbridge.gov.uk or call 01372 474 944 (Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm).
