Connect with nature, support your wellbeing and help create a sound installation

A unique opportunity to experience nature in a new way and contribute to a community arts project.

27 August 2026

Woodland landscape

We are inviting residents to take part in a free woodland sound walk experience, from Garsons Farm, Esher on Thursday 10 September, with a limited number of places available. There will be a short walk at 10:30am and a long walk at 1pm.

Led by award-winning composer and sound artist Dr Helen Wilson, these gentle guided walks offer a chance to slow down, spend time in nature, meet others, and take part in an inspiring community arts project.

Participants will explore the woodland, listen mindfully to the sounds around them, and help create a unique soundscape by recording the electrical signals of plants. Afterwards, there will be time for reflection and refreshments.

The sounds collected during the walks will be transformed into music and featured in a special installation at Riverhouse Barn Arts Centre in February 2027.

As a thank you for taking part, participants will also be invited to an exclusive private viewing of the installation.

 Who is it for?

This experience may be particularly beneficial for people who:

  • are looking to improve their wellbeing through nature and creative activity
  • are living with a long-term health condition
  • have been affected by cancer, either personally or as a carer
  • would enjoy a gentle, accessible outdoor activity and the opportunity to meet with others

How to register

Only 15 places are available per walk, and priority will be given to Elmbridge residents.
