Clean Air Routes now available in Surrey to help you breathe easier

Surrey residents can now enjoy cleaner, healthier journeys thanks to the launch of Clean Air Routes in our area. 

This free online tool and app helps you find walking and cycling routes with the best available air quality. Originally rolled out across London, Clean Air Routes has now expanded to Greater London and parts of the Home Counties, including Surrey. 

How does it work? 

Download the app or visit Clean Air Routes. Simply enter your start and end points and the system will suggest up to three routes. Each option shows pollution levels along the way and recommends the route with the lowest exposure to harmful pollutants.  

Why is this important? 

Air pollution is a serious health concern. Long-term exposure can increase the risk of asthma, lung cancer, strokes and heart disease. Children, older adults and people with respiratory or heart conditions are especially vulnerable. Choosing cleaner routes can make a real difference. 

Extra support for residents 

You can also sign up for AirTEXT, a free service that sends air pollution alerts and health advice straight to your phone. It is perfect for anyone who wants to stay informed and protect their health.
