Take a step or ride your way to better wellbeing with Elmbridge walks and cycle rides!

Elmbridge Wellbeing Walks

Looking to kick off 2025 with a healthy habit? Join our Elmbridge wellbeing walks and cycle rides! They are perfect for anyone wanting to get active, boost their mental health, and meet new people while exploring the local area. Even better, you can join for free!

Elmbridge Wellbeing Walks

Our walks are short and take place all over the borough. Led by our friendly and experienced volunteer walk leaders, they are a fantastic way to get moving and enjoy the outdoors. You can choose from:

  • Daily walks of different lengths, speed, and gradients to various destinations
  • Regular weekly and monthly walks starting from the same point.
  • All-inclusive walk or wheel route from Xcel Leisure Complex. A steady, safe route along the towpath, perfect for beginners and includes rest stops.
  • Special interest and historical walks: explore Claremont Landscape Gardens, Painshill Park and more with our themed walks.
  • Walk and talk routes: join our volunteers and partners from the Mary Frances Trust and Princess Alice Hospice for a stroll and a chat.

Karen, who has been leading walks since they started 21 years ago, said, “Our walks are more than just exercise - they're a chance to unwind, meet new friends, and discover the beauty of your local area. My favourite places to walk are the Esher Commons, with their ponds, views and wall to wall nature. I really enjoy the sociable aspects of our walks. Many end with a visit to a café for a well-deserved chat and refreshment, giving everybody a chance to get to know each other and socialise.”

Elmbridge Cycle Rides

Our weekly group cycle rides are just as easy to join as our walks. They're free, and there's no need to book in advance. Routes vary in time and length, but all are at a gentle pace with a stop halfway to rest, refuel, and socialise.

One of our cycle ride leaders said, “Joining a cycle ride with unfamiliar faces can be intimidating, especially if you're returning to cycling to get fitter or manage a health condition. At Elmbridge cycle rides, we want everyone to feel welcome, regardless of their abilities. We're here to support you, and we hope you'll enjoy the rides as much as we do leading them.”
