Successful Leaders public meetings roadshow comes to an end

Council leaders presenting to members of the public at a local community centre

Throughout January, February and March 2025, Cllr Mike Rollings, Leader of Elmbridge Borough Council, and Cllr Simon Waugh, Deputy Leader of the Council, hosted a series of public meetings across the borough, with almost 250 attending across the 8 meetings.

During the meetings with residents in Claygate, Cobham, Esher, Hersham, Molesey, Thames Ditton, Walton and Weybridge, a range of topics were discussed including local government reorganisation, Elmbridge’s 2025/26 balanced budget, the introduction of 30-minute free car parking in 10 village car parks and protecting and enhancing our play areas and green spaces.

Cllr Mike Rollings found the meetings to be a great opportunity to discuss local government reorganisation:

"Being able to talk to residents about local government reorganisation has been rewarding. We can hear the views of the people that matter most, our residents, and while we do not currently have all the information, we have been able to explain the process of local government reorganisation in Surrey."

Cllr Simon Waugh is grateful to all those residents who came along:

“I was delighted to speak to so many of our residents during this roadshow. It is important that our residents have the opportunity to hear from us directly and to ask questions on issues that impact their everyday lives. Thank you to everyone who came along.”

If you missed the opportunity to come along to a meeting, there is a webcast of the meeting held on Wednesday 12 March at the Civic Centre, Esher.
