Mayor of Elmbridge charity launch

Following his election as Mayor of Elmbridge at the Annual Meeting of the Council on Wednesday 21 May, Councillor Steve Bax held his charity launch on Thursday 22 May at The Oakwood in Esher. Councillor Steve Bax has chosen to support the Community Fund for Elmbridge.

Community Fund for Elmbridge is a new charity in the borough. It has been created in association with the Community Foundation for Surrey and Sandown Park as part of their 150th birthday celebrations. The idea is that, rather than each business, group or individual raising a small amount of money for good causes independently, the fund acts as a focal point for community fundraising.

“By pooling effort, the plan is that together we can raise significant funds, which in turn means we can support both bigger projects and more good causes across Elmbridge,” says Councillor Bax.

It also means that, rather than speaking to lots of different groups for support, charities or groups in need of funds can approach the Community Fund for Elmbridge directly.

Expressions of interest will be accepted throughout the year, with two grant allocation rounds taking place annually, the first of which is scheduled for November.

To get involved, you can either donate to the fund directly, organise a fundraising event of your own, or donate to or participate in a fundraising event taking place near you.
