Today Weybridge businesses voted to back a business improvement district (BID).
Developed by businesses, for businesses the Weybridge BID will deliver a five-year plan backed by over £800,000 in investment. The BID will cover 13 streets and represent more than 220 businesses, all working together to enhance the local trading environment and secure a thriving future for Weybridge.
The business plan was supported by a majority of those voting by number and rateable value with:
- 87% voting YES by number
- 90% voting YES by rateable value
Iain Kirkpatrick, Regional Manager at Mandarin Stone and Chair of the Weybridge BID Task Group, said "As a high street business, I understand the economic challenges we all face. The BID gives us a solid framework to stay competitive and deliver on the priorities identified by local businesses. We’re excited to begin this new chapter together."
Councillor Kirsty Hewens, Portfolio Holder for Enterprise, Parking and Local Economy, added "Congratulations to everyone involved in developing the Weybridge BID. It’s fantastic to see local businesses getting behind a shared vision. I’m confident the BID will be a great success.”
