Could someone you know benefit from a gentle, friendly walk or wheel? Invite them to join our welcoming weekly inclusive Walk or Wheel along the Thames towpath near the Xcel Leisure Complex in Walton. This short route is perfect for beginners and those who prefer a slower pace.
Whether you walk, wheel or stroll with a friend, every step counts and every smile shared makes a difference.
This weekly walk was planned carefully for its accessibility and safety.
What to expect when you take part:
- Flat, short route with rest stops along the way
- First-aid trained volunteers on hand for support
- Open to all mobility levels, including wheelchair users and those recovering from injury or illness
December and January bonus: an extra welcome
To help kickstart a healthy habit, every new participant in December and January will receive a £5 Costa Coffee voucher, a simple treat to enjoy after your walk (T&Cs apply*).
Why join?
- Enjoy gentle movement in a friendly, inclusive environment
- Meet new people
- Celebrate small milestones that are meaningful to you on your journey to become more active - like your first walk since recovery or for a few months
- Bring a friend, carer or family member: everyone is welcome!
Make it special
Grab a water bottle when you join. Each walk ends with a coffee, if you would like to join us and a chance to have a chat.
On 22 December, we will mark our pre-Christmas walk with a mince pie and a soft/hot drink and we will be joined by our other walk leaders.
We want as many people to join as possible. If you need transport assistance to get to the meeting point at Xcel for the pre-Christmas walk, let us know if advance at wellbeing@elmbridge.gov.uk.
You will be joining people who are motivated to get more active, more often. Whether you’re walking, wheeling or cheering someone on, your presence matters.
We look forward to meeting you soon. Check out more information about the inclusive Walk and Wheel programme.
