The Elmbridge and Runnymede Youth Hub has received new funding to continue supporting young people looking to kick start their career.

Now in its fifth year, the hub has helped over 600 young people aged 18- 24 to find jobs, placements, training opportunities or apprenticeships.

Elmbridge and Runnymede Borough Councils have secured an additional £54,000 in funding from the Department for Work and Pensions, enabling the hub to help a further 140+ young people from across the area.

Delivered by Brooklands Technical College, the youth hub offers practical support including CV writing, interview preparation, work placements and help with personal wellbeing and finances.

The hub’s success is built on strong partnerships with the local community and businesses. Over 100 employers and voluntary organisations have pledged their support to improve job opportunities for young people, helping the hub match individuals with the right job, placement, or training to help them get ahead.

Cllr Kirsty Hewens Portfolio Holder for Enterprise, Parking and Local Economy at Elmbridge Borough Council:

We’re delighted to continue our partnership with the Youth Hub and help young people build the skills and confidence they need to succeed. The hub provides a vital link between education, employment and support services, and we’re proud to play a role in helping young people take their next steps

Christine Ricketts, Principal at Brooklands Technical College:

We’re proud that our work to support young people has been recognised with new funding for the Youth Hub for another 12 months. We can now continue to provide high-quality services to young people across Runnymede and Elmbridge. I encourage young people to get in touch and see how the Hub can help.

Gemma Newar, Surrey Partnership Manager at Department for Work and Pensions:

The hub has delivered an excellent service for our young people over the past four years. The outcomes achieved, particularly in job starts and sustained employment, have been outstanding. In the next 12 months we look forward to the youth hub delivering even more for young people across Elmbridge and Runnymede.
