Mobile catering opportunities in Elmbridge parks and open spaces

Mobile catering opportunities in Elmbridge green spaces

December 2024 update

We currently have a range of opportunities for mobile catering businesses to provide quality refreshments in some Elmbridge recreation areas and open spaces.

We are inviting offers for the following mobile catering sites:

  • Brooklands community park site 1 (ice cream)
  • Brooklands community park site 2 (food and beverages)
  • Churchfields recreation ground (ice cream van limited to one year, with a future proposed onsite kiosk option)
  • Giggs Hill green (food and beverages)
  • Grovelands recreation ground (food and beverages)
  • Hersham recreation ground (ice cream)
  • Hurst Park site 1 (ice cream)
  • Hurst Park site 2 (food and beverages)
  • Long Ditton recreation ground (food and beverages)
  • Oatlands recreation ground (ice cream)
  • West End green (ice cream)

Application requirements

As part of their applications, businesses will have to provide:

  • details of the proposed business and type of offering
  • photographs of the trailer or van
  • public liability insurance details
  • food hygiene certificate (if applicable)

Sustainability and environmental considerations

In line with our Vision 2030 which supports sustainability and environmental practices, it is essential to hear from applicants how they will deal with litter, the sustainability of their packaging and the power of their vehicles and generators. Noise pollution and emissions will also be key factors in our decision-making process.

Licence fee and trading expectations

We do not set a fixed licence fee for our mobile catering pitches due to varying footfall. Instead, we encourage traders to carefully consider their business plans and propose a licence fee based on anticipated trade and fair affordability.

Councillor Simon Waugh, Portfolio Holder for Leisure, Culture and Commercial Strategy, said:

“These mobile catering sites are a fantastic opportunity for local businesses to expand their customer base into our recreation areas and open spaces. This initiative will not only enhance the visitor experience but also support local enterprises and align with our Vision 2030 for a sustainable Elmbridge. We look forward to receiving a diverse range of applications.”
