Community tree planting event to enhance local biodiversity at Grovelands recreation ground

Community planting

You are invited to come along to a community tree planting event aimed at enhancing biodiversity at Grovelands recreation ground in West Molesey.

We will be planting a variety of young trees, including crab apple, hawthorn, wild cherry, walnut, chestnut, and cobnut to create new habitats for wildlife and make the park more welcoming for residents and visitors.

Event Details:

  • Date:  Saturday 30 November
  • Time: from 10am to 12pm
  • Location: Grovelands recreation ground, 7 Grovelands, West Molesey KT8 2EB

If you would like to join us, please dress appropriately for the weather, and wear suitable footwear. We will have tools available to borrow, but please bring your own if you are more comfortable using them.

Councillor Simon Waugh, Portfolio Holder for Leisure, Culture and Commercial Strategy, said, “This event is a fantastic opportunity for residents to come together, enjoy the outdoors, and help us make the recreation ground a welcoming and enjoyable place to spend time outdoors. The young trees will be a great addition to the new play equipment which was recently installed and contribute to making this popular park an even more inviting and vibrant environment for the future”.

Cllr Ashley Tilling, Portfolio Holder for Climate Change, Environmental Services and Sustainability, said: “We are inviting the community to help us make a lasting impact on our local environment. By planting a diverse range of trees, we are not only enhancing biodiversity, but creating a healthier and more vibrant ecosystem for future generations to enjoy. We encourage everyone to participate and help us make a difference.”

We look forward to seeing you there.
