Overview
The Homes for Ukraine program opened in March 2022 and continues to support those fleeing the conflict in Ukraine with a safe route to travel to the UK. So far Elmbridge has welcomed over 600 guests from the scheme.
Visa applications made before 19 February 2024 were granted for 36 months. Visa applications made after this date are being granted for 18 months. Guests will be able to apply for an 18 month extension 3 months before the end of their visa.
Elmbridge residents can open their homes to a guest or guest family from Ukraine and host them for a minimum of 6 months to support them as they start to rebuild their lives in our community.
We work in partnership with Surrey County Council, other local boroughs, and with local support groups like Elmbridge CAN, to ensure both guests and hosts have all the support they need.
Hosts urgently needed
We are in urgent need of more Elmbridge residents to consider hosting a guest(s) who has already arrived under the Homes for Ukraine scheme, but their initial sponsorship has now ended.
