About us

Elmbridge Dementia Services operates as part of Elmbridge Borough Council, to provide care and stimulation for those living with Dementia and respite for carers and family members. Our dedicated specialist team provide engaging activities and social interaction to enhance their wellbeing, encourage their independence and retain their life skills.

From each initial assessment we find out about the person’s life history, emotional and physical needs, mobility, interests and hobbies, worries or anxieties and important people in their lives. This allows us to tailor our social groups to meet individual needs with a range of activities and reminiscence sessions, but most importantly we provide a chance for members to meet new friends and socialise in a safe and relaxed environment. If members want to just soak up the atmosphere or read the paper whilst their carer has a break, they are welcome to do so.

  • A day at one of our groups can be hugely beneficial to people living with dementia, as well as their carers, who can take a break knowing their loved one is looked after.

  • Our groups are run by specialists and volunteers who focus on the strengths and abilities of the person with dementia, to provide activities that will be engaging and suitable for everyone.

  • Each group has its own personality, following our ethos of living well with dementia. Members enjoy a range of activities and socialise in a safe and welcoming environment with trained staff on a 1-4 client ratio.

  • A lunch is provided along with drinks and snacks.

  • For those who are unable to make it to the groups, we provide door-to-door transport to your nearest group.

  • We understand that people may be reluctant to attend day groups, so we offer the opportunity to visit and view any of our groups before you decide to join.

  • Attendance of the groups is subject to assessment, at your own home, to ensure we know as much as possible about our new member; understanding their preferences, life history and expectations so that their time with us is meaningful.
