Report an emergency incident

Useful contacts for reporting emergency incidents, including flooding, power cuts, fallen trees, dangerous structures and suspected terrorism.

In an emergency always call 999. It is an emergency when a crime is being committed, there is a risk of injury or there is a risk of serious damage to property.

Flooding

For information on reporting flooding, see who to contact about flooding.

Power cuts

If you experience a power cut:

  • visit UK Power Networks: Powercut and type in your postcode to view a live power cut map
  • call 105 free of charge from a landline or mobile phone to report a power cut or damage to the electricity network
  • visit Power Networks for the latest updates

Stay clear of power lines. Electricity lines that are down or causing significant risk to the public should be reported to 999.

Priority Service Register

The Priority Service Register provides extra help to those registered during a power cut.  Visit Power Networks Priority Service for more information and how to register.

Trees

If you need to report a fallen, damaged or dangerous tree, please check who is responsible for dealing with it before reporting.

Trees on highways

If a tree is on a highway verge, blocking a road or creating another emergency situation, Surrey Highways is responsible.  Call the Surrey County Council Contact Centre on 0300 200 1003 or report a fallen tree online.

Trees on private land

If a tree is on private land (such as front or back garden), the owner of the land is responsible for the tree.

If the tree has fallen across the road, you can report to Surrey County Council Highways (details above).

View our list of tree surgeons who could help in an emergency.
