Three areas have been chosen to pilot the new Neighbourhood Area Committees. These committees will bring together local representatives and organisations to focus on the needs of their communities.
Pilot areas
Pilots will take place in:
- Cobham and Esher
- Dorking and villages
- Caterham, Warlingham and North Tandridge
Who’s involved
Each Neighbourhood Area Committee will include representatives from:
- Surrey County Council councillors
- district, borough, town or parish councillors
- Surrey Police
- the health system and other partners
- local voluntary and community groups
What the committees will do
The committees will focus on local priorities and help tackle issues that matter most to residents. They will act as a link between residents and larger organisations, including the unitary councils that will be created, once a government decision is made in the autumn on local government reorganisation in Surrey.
Next steps
Initial meetings in the three pilot areas will take place in July. These meetings will help shape how the committees work.
More areas across Surrey will be invited to take part in the autumn.
