Love Parks Week is back, a perfect time to celebrate the incredible green spaces that make Elmbridge such a special place to live.
With 142 parks, recreation grounds, riversides, and countryside sites across the borough, there’s no shortage of places to explore, relax, and connect with nature.
Whether spending time outdoors relaxing with friends and families, picnicking, visiting play areas, playing sports, knocking a football around or walking the dog, our parks give our communities an invaluable space to enjoy, grow and socialise.
Investing in our shared spaces
We’ve been working hard to improve and expand our outdoor facilities. In 2024, we continued our play area refurbishment programme in Cobham, Hersham, Molesey, Walton, and Weybridge, and opened new play spaces in Thames Ditton and installed teen equipment in Grovelands, Molesey. The new multi-use games areas (MUGAs) in Long Ditton and Hersham are proving popular, and the new green gym in Long Ditton is helping residents stay active outdoors.
And we’re especially proud of the new splash pad at Churchfields, which has been a big hit with families during these sunny summer days!
Thank you to our green champions
Love Parks Week is also a time to recognise the incredible volunteers and workers who help care for our green spaces. From our contractors to the many local litter-picking groups, their dedication keeps our parks clean, safe, and welcoming for all.
If you’d like to lend a hand, these groups are always happy to welcome new volunteers!
Let’s all do our bit
We can all help keep Elmbridge open spaces welcoming by:
- taking litter home when bins are full
- respecting shared spaces and each other
- following our Dog Walkers Charter, which encourages owners to keep dogs under close control and clean up after them
Together, we can make sure our parks remain places we’re proud of, places where everyone feels welcome.
So here is to a great summer in our green local spaces!
