Preserving biodiversity in Elmbridge

Elmbridge Borough Council countryside team

Protecting 625 hectares of woodland, heathland, meadows and ponds needs many pairs of hands. In Elmbridge we are lucky to have our conservation volunteers; a committed group playing an important role in making sure natural habitats are restored and managed.

In 2022, they dedicated 2000 hours to restore and maintain habitats for local wildlife including rare ground nesting birds like the Dartford warbler and nightjar, and specialised invertebrates such as glow worms and green tiger beetles. We are hugely grateful for their commitment to a sustainable Elmbridge.
