Licensable activities

Information on activities that need a licence.

If you want to sell alcohol or provide other licensable activities, you will need to make sure you have permission to do so.

Licensable activities include:

  • selling alcohol
  • serving hot food and or drinks between 11pm and 5am

You’ll also need a licence if you provide the following types of entertainment:

  • a performance of a play
  • an exhibition of a film
  • an indoor sporting event
  • a boxing or wrestling entertainment
  • a performance of live music
  • any playing of recorded music
  • a performance of dance
  • entertainment of a similar description to a performance of live music, any playing of recorded music or a performance of dance

You’ll still need a licence even if the activities are for charity.
