Litter in parks and open spaces

Litter picking

We want everybody to feel proud of where they live and understand that littering is an eye sore and a source of disappointment and frustration for local communities. We need your help to solve the problem. Here are some ways to get involved.

Set up your own litter picking group

Do you feel that members of your local community might be interested in getting involved? Why not set up your own litter picking group? For further advice download the guide:

It's important to let us know about your upcoming litter picking events so we can support you by collecting litter bags at the end of the day.

Join local litter groups

Many local litter-picking groups are doing a fantastic job supporting their local communities. The following dedicated local groups organise regular litter pick events in your area:

Claygate Litter Pick Group

Cobham Heritage Litter Picks

Hinchley Wood Litter Group

KT6 Litter Pickers, Long Ditton

Lower Green Litter Group

Love Molesey Litter Pickers

Walton Litter Pickers

Weston Green Litter Picking Group

Weybridge in Bloom

Weybridge Litter Busters

Free kit for litter-picking groups

We have purchased new kits including all the equipment necessary for a safe and successful litter-picking event. The kits are available to existing local litter-picking groups to collect and keep for free. To arrange collection, get in touch with us at greenspaces@elmbridge.gov.uk.

Borrow the kit for free from the Elmbridge Litter Hub

We have equipment to borrow for free via our Litter Picking Hub for individuals or community groups who want to get involved.

Email greenspaces@elmbridge.gov.uk for more information and to book your litter picking equipment.

Equipment will need to be collected from and returned to Civic Centre, High Street, Esher KT10 9SD.

Health and safety

Stay safe while litter-picking, by following a set of practical guidelines, see Keep Britain Tidy: Clean-up preparation and safety advice.
