Homelessness: after you contact us

Intentionally homeless

If you are still homeless (includng those in temporary accommodation) at the end of the 56 day relief duty and you are in priority need then we will consider whether you are intentionally homeless.

This is when it is felt that you are homeless because of something that you have deliberately done or failed to do (for example, knowingly not paid your rent to your landlord).

If we believe you are intentionally homeless, even if you are in a priority need group, you will only be offered emergency accommodation or be advised you can remain in any temporary accommodation we may have secured for a limited time. This should be long enough for you to find something else and we will consider your circumstances, but we will not continue to provide accommodation for an indefinite period.
