How we investigate noise complaints

Part of
Noise complaints

Once you make your complaint, your case will be assigned to an officer. We aim to respond within 5 working days.

You can continue to complete noise diary sheets and use the Noise App.

Noise policy

See our policy for information on:

  • how we manage and investigate noise complaints within the borough
  • how we work in partnership with colleagues and external agencies
  • details on the legal controls - the principal legislation, Statutory Nuisance, is included in the Environmental Protection Act 1990, which also allows residents to take their own action for nuisance
Document
Noise Policy (PDF, 240KB)

The policy also includes a section on the complainant's role in a noise investigation. The complainant is required to assist in the investigation, if they do not, the case may be closed.
