Councillor code of conduct

Elmbridge Borough Council has adopted a code of conduct for its councillors under Section 28(2) Localism Act 2011.

The code of conduct is consistent with the principles of public life set out in the Act and it makes provision for the registration and disclosure of pecuniary and other interests.

This is in the form of the Local Government Association Mode Code of Conduct. It is within part 4 of the Council’s Constitution and on Local Government Association: Guidance on Local Government Association Model Councillor Code of Conduct.

The council deals with any complaints about councillor conduct in accordance with the arrangements for dealing with allegations under the Localism Act 2011 (PDF, 126.33KB).

Elmbridge Borough Council and Claygate Parish Council have, in accordance with Section 29 Localism Act 2011, established Registers of Pecuniary and Other Interests of their councillors.
