Local area co-ordinators (LACs) work one-to-one with people to build confidence, connect with local services and find practical solutions that make life easier.
Role of the LACs
LACs provide one-to-one support for people with complex needs, helping them build independence and connect with local services, groups and charities. Each LAC works closely with individuals to co-create action plans tailored to their goals and circumstances. They ‘walk’ alongside them on their journey to greater wellbeing and community connection.
Embedded in the community
Each LAC officer is place-based, assigned to a specific area within the borough. This local focus means they have deep knowledge of their area’s needs, strengths and available support networks.
They are also building strong relationships with key community stakeholders such schools, GPs, charities and local organisations to ensure a joined-up approach to support.
Enabling the right support
LACs will share insights and local emerging needs, helping us to shape services and fill gaps in provision.
By being out in the community, LACs give us a clearer picture of what’s happening on the ground. This will enable us to act as a facilitator of support, whether that’s adapting services or enabling new initiatives in response to local concerns.
