Skills boost for Elmbridge businesses

Our skills boost funding helps local businesses upskill existing staff or hire new talent, through apprenticeships, at no extra cost.

Are you a small or medium-sized business in Elmbridge? You could benefit from 100% funding for apprenticeship training - helping you hire new talent or upskill existing staff at no cost for training.

We are pledging part of our apprenticeship levy to training costs each year for local SMEs. This initiative can provide valuable opportunities for businesses and residents alike.

Who can apply?

To be eligible for skills boost funding, your business must:

  • have a clear presence in Elmbridge - either located here, employing local people, or doing significant business in the borough
  • be non-levy paying (i.e., not currently subject to the Government’s Apprenticeship Levy)
  • cover the apprentice’s salary - funding only applies to training costs
  • use the funding for new apprenticeship courses aligned with approved apprenticeship standards
  • choose an Elmbridge based training provider, unless the course isn’t available locally
  • employ apprentices for at least 30 hours per week, though part-time arrangements may be considered
  • apply before training begins - funding cannot be backdated

For more information, please read the Elmbridge skills boost guidance notes.

How to apply

Simply complete the skills boost application form, including details about your business, the apprenticeship role, and the proposed training course.
