Charity or sports club relief

How to apply and what to do if you receive a review letter.

Charities and registered Community Amateur Sports Clubs (CASCs) are entitled to 80% relief on business rates where the property is occupied by the charity or club and is wholly or mainly used for charitable purposes or as a registered Community Amateur Sports Club.  We have discretion to increase the relief up to 100%.

We also have discretion to give relief to other non-profit making organisations.

How to apply

We accept applications for a discount or relief with our online form:

You will need to have your business rate account number and the postcode of the business property.

After you apply

We aim to process your request within 10 working days.

We may need to contact you for further information.

Our business rates records will be updated and you may receive a revised bill based on the information you have provided.

Charity or sports club rate relief review

If you already receive charity or sports club relief and have received a review letter, please complete the online form:

You will need your business rate account number and the postcode of the business property.

You must notify us within 28 days of any changes in your circumstances that may affect your entitlement to relief. If you make a false declaration, you may be fined, imprisoned or both.
