War pensions

Information on how we calculate benefits if you are receiving war pensions.

If you receive War Disablement Pension, War Widows Pension or Armed Forces Compensation Payment income,  we’ll fully disregard these when calculating your Housing Benefit and Council Tax Support entitlement.

We’ll need to see proof of War Disablement Pension, War Widows Pension or Armed Forces Compensation Payment, even if you have told another government organisation as this is often not shared with us.

Further information

This disregard is allowed under Section 134 (8) of the Social Security Administration Act 1992.

The statutory disregard is the first £10 of income from these payments. 

Local authorities have the power to modify the scheme to disregard some or all of these types of payments.
