The Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) allows us to raise funds from new developments for infrastructure projects which help to mitigate the impacts of new development.
Allocation of CIL funding
Of the total collected:
- 80% goes towards strategic borough-wide infrastructure
- 15% for local projects
- 5% for the day-to-day costs of administering CIL
How CIL can be used
CIL must be used to fund infrastructure to support the development of the borough. The type of infrastructure includes:
- roads and other transport infrastructure
- flood defences
- schools and other educational facilities
- medical facilities
- sporting and recreational facilities
- open spaces
