Mayor's charity luncheon

The Mayor, Councillor Mrs Shweta Kapadia, hosted a very successful Ladies’ Lunch at Woodlands Park Hotel on Monday 24 September raising funds for her chosen charity, Elmbridge Rentstart.

The Mayor was pleased to welcome over 120 ladies from across Surrey and Elmbridge Borough, including Councillors and Surrey Mayors and Mayoresses.  The room looked amazing with table centres kindly donated by Squires, Long Ditton and was buzzing with conversation.  As it was the Mayor’s birthday, the Hotel treated guests to macaroons in celebration.

Guests were entertained by actress and author, Debbie Arnold, who told us a little of her life as well as her passion for charity work supporting the homeless and also as an ambassador for the National Bullying Helpline.

Fundraising took place during the lunch and guests were very generous raising £2,000 for Elmbridge Rentstart.  The Mayor was very grateful for the support from many local businesses for their donations which helped to make the event such a success.

The Mayor said, “It was a wonderful lunch. My thanks to everyone who came and contributed to help raise funds for my chosen charity, Elmbridge Rentstart.  My guests thoroughly enjoyed the day and I was delighted that it was such a success.”
