Free sport for men

As part of Movember, we are committed to getting men into sport in Elmbridge

Movember raises awareness of men's health issues, such as prostate and testicular cancer, and suicide. We are inviting men to speak up if they are anxious and to seek support through sport.

In November, we are working with local sports clubs to offer free, fun and social sessions for men and boys. This is your opportunity to get active and access a network of support.

Here is how you can make the most of the offer:

  • Visit our men in sport webpage to see what’s available

  • Book your session in advance with the participating sports club or just turn up on the day.

  • Mention that you heard about the offer through the Council’s ‘Movember Men in Sport’ initiative.

A few of the activities on offer include: martial arts including judo and warrior combat, tennis, cardiotennis, sculling, running and touch rugby.

Councillor Janet Turner, Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Culture, said, “We want to raise awareness of how important it is to speak up if you are struggling. Local sports clubs are supportive of the Movember campaign and will welcome any man who want to take up their free session offer. These sessions are a great way to get active and to meet new people to talk to. Have a go! It is an opportunity to try something new and access a fantastic support network."
