Food donation

The Thames Ditton branch of the Co-op supermarket is receiving grateful thanks from Elmbridge Borough Council for a donation of food provided to the Meals on Wheels service.

The food was collected by members of the council’s community transport service, following a fire at the Thames Ditton Supermarket last week which left them unable to store a quantity of their stock, which they kindly chose to donate to the council’s ongoing community support efforts.

The donation, which included meat, cheese and pastries, will be delivered to vulnerable residents of the borough, many of whom are self-isolating at home due to the current COVID-19 outbreak.

Councillor Mrs Tannia Shipley, the Portfolio Holder for Social Affairs said: "We appreciate all the support local businesses have given the council during this difficult time. This donation of food is especially generous, and will ensure that our community support team are able to continue their valuable work keeping vulnerable residents fed whilst they are unable to leave their homes."

If you know someone who might benefit from this service, please visit our Meals on Wheels page.
