Elmbridge services

Updated 7 April 2020

Information on all our services is available on our website. You can also pay for any services through our website.

Supporting the vulnerable

  • We have set up an information page to support residents with Universal Credit, council tax support , housing allowance and housing benefit queries

  • Our officers and volunteers continue to work on providing meals on wheels to the older and vulnerable people in the community. We are working with Central Surrey Voluntary Action to arrange shopping and medication collection services.

  • We are very grateful to the huge number of people that have come forward to offer their support to the meals on wheels service. We now have enough volunteers to support the service. If this situation changes, we will update on our website and social media.  Many thanks for your support.

  • The North East Surrey Family Support Team continues to support vulnerable children and families with complex needs.  Weekly contact is being maintained via telephone or social media and we are ensuring that children are seen.

  • Surrey community helpline: 0300 200 1008 (Monday- Friday, 8am – 6pm, Saturday & Sunday 10am -2pm)

  • Food bank information has been added to our website, as well a page providing places in Elmbridge offering food and food deliveries.

  • Homeless families: We are making an urgent call to hoteliers, B&Bs, Airbnb and serviced apartment owners and private and social landlords to come forward to offer accommodation to house the borough’s homeless during the coronavirus crisis. Read more about the property appeal.

Supporting the community

  • Our planning service has resumed site visits but only for sites where it is possible to undertake unaccompanied site visits and observe the governments guidance on social distancing.

  • Our environmental enforcement team are assisting the police with regular patrols to monitor the businesses opening, and social distancing in the borough.

  • We are also asking residents to stop leaving donations outside the borough’s charity shops. All shops are closed and not accepting donations. These actions effectively amount to fly tipping.

  • We are encouraging residents not to burn their garden waste and to be respectful of neighbours when it comes to BBQs and loud music.

  • Waste collection – clothes, home textiles, small electricals and batteries have stopped, the service continues to operate well. Residents are being encourage to clean the handles of their bins after bringing them to the front of their houses for collection.

  • Our car parks are now free until midnight on 14 April, in support of our residents and key workers.

  • Some carparks linked to commons and leisure areas are now closed but the areas still welcome walkers.

  • Planning: we are maintaining a service for applications and pre-application enquiries.

  • We are working on introducing virtual planning meetings asap.

  • Our green spaces are there for safe use but too many are still using outdoor gyms, tennis courts and play areas.
Please note the information about our open spaces.

  • The Leader of Elmbridge Borough Council's message to residents.
