The Environmental Enforcement Team at Elmbridge Borough Council now has an electric bike to help with patrols in the borough. In addition to electric cars, the e-bike allows the team to patrol Elmbridge without impacting air quality.
The e-bike has the added benefit of giving the team increased flexibility on their patrols; they can now access smaller pathways and off-road areas around Elmbridge in their efforts to protect Elmbridge from fly-tipping, illegal mooring and illegal waste carriers.
Councillor Mary Marshall, Portfolio Holder for Environmental Services is very supportive of this new addition to the team’s suite of resources:
“In July 2019, Elmbridge Borough Council declared a climate emergency with a pledge to reduce our own environmental impact, as well as help the whole borough to be more sustainable. The introduction of the e-bike is just one of the steps we are taking to help air quality in Elmbridge and to ensure Elmbridge continues to thrive.”
