    A number of resources; including advice from mental health professionals and actionable tips on how to prioritise your well-being, and navigate this period of uncertainty.

  • Mind Matters Surrey

    Provides talking therapies to anyone over 17 registered with a GP in Surrey experiencing common mental health issues such as depression, anxiety and stress.
    Self referral can be made through their website. Currently offering both group and individual therapy sessions over telephone and Skype, as well as online CBT sessions through SilverCloud.

  • Mary Frances Trust

    Provides a range of online support groups and activities to support Surrey residents with mental health difficulties. 

  • Stay Alive App
    Mobile app which provides support for people who are having thoughts of suicide or are concerned about someone in a mental health crisis. Includes links to local and national crisis services, tips and strategies for when you’re feeling overwhelmed, and customizable safety plans including space for photos and memories to help when you’re in crisis.

  • NHS Volunteers Service

    Provides a range of services for residents who were (or are) shielding, self-isolating or otherwise vulnerable (including those suffering from a mental health condition). Volunteer responders can provide a telephone check-in and chat, or arrange for support with food, essential items and prescription collection.  

  • Princess Alice Hospice Compassionate Neighbours

    The hospice’s volunteer team can provide telephone support and a listening ear to any resident with a life limiting illness, or anyone vulnerable, shielding or self-isolating.
  • Surrey Virtual Wellbeing 
    A directory of online courses, classes and meetups from organisations across Surrey, including Mary Frances Trust, Surrey Coalition for Disabled People and Oakleaf. Many of the activities replace face-to-face sessions which organisations were previously running.

  • Catalyst Community Connections

    Provides telephone support and online activities to support people with mental health, drug and alcohol problems in West Elmbridge (Walton, Weybridge and Hersham).

    Currently provides telephone befriending to older adults in the Elmbridge area who are feeling lonely or isolated. 

  • Silverline

    A confidential, free helpline for older people which is open 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Offers conversation, friendship, advice and support through its telephone befriending service. 

Bereavement resources

  • Cruse Bereavement

    Provides help and support to anyone affected by a bereavement. Now has a range of coronavirus-related support resources.

    Support service for anyone who has suffered a sudden bereavement, from COVID-19 or any other cause. Provides up to 10 weeks of support including advice on bereavement issues and connecting you with psychological or legal support services.

    Provides emotional support and practical help to people facing life-threatening illnesses, their families and carers. Their telephone support service is now also extended to any adults in Surrey who are vulnerable, isolated or have suffered a bereavement.
  • Ashford and St Peter’s Hospital (Chaplaincy listening scheme)

    The Chaplaincy at St Peter’s runs an informal listening service to families of patients who have passed away. This is not a religious or long term counselling service.
  • Princess Alice Bereavement Support

    Information, tips and advice around bereavement, and a phoneline for more help, advice and support.
  • Kingston Bereavement

    Offers a paid service to Elmbridge residents who work or study in the Borough of Kingston. Provides counselling to anyone who has suffered a bereavement.
