Centres for the Community prepare for Christmas

The festive season is just around the corner for Elmbridge Borough Council’s Centres for the Community. Throughout December, members will enjoy a range of Christmas-themed events and activities within their local communities.

To help residents get into the Christmas spirit, each Centre has organised a full programme of festive events. Members can participate in Christmas outings, parties, lunches, carols and much more.

One of the highlights of the season includes the popular Christmas lunches, which will be taking place across the Centres over the coming weeks. These Christmas lunches and parties offer a great opportunity for residents to meet new people and enjoy this special time of year with close friends. Last year, the Centres for the Community served almost 1,500 Christmas lunches over the Christmas period, a figure they hope to beat for 2018.

Councillor Andrew Burley, Portfolio Holder for Community and Social Affairs said: “Christmas is always a special time of year across our seven Centres for the Community. It’s wonderful to see so many friends, neighbours and residents enjoying the festivities and embracing the season of good will. If you haven’t visited a Centre before, Christmas is the perfect time to meet new people and take in the festive cheer.”

Are you going to be out of town this Christmas? There are numerous activities members can get involved with in the New Year, from exercise classes and art groups to iPad training. There are also opportunities to become a volunteer. For further information and Centre contact details, visit our webpages or call the Community Support Services team on 01372 474552.
