Celebrating national fitness day

UK Active’s mission is to get more people more active more often and national fitness day on Wednesday 25 September is the annual celebration of this mission. The aim is to make it the most active day of the year.

In Elmbridge, we have planned an afternoon packed of active things to try out at Coronation recreation ground in Hersham KT12 4QY from 3pm to 6pm.  All the activities are free and accessible to everyone, regardless of age or abilities. Here is what is on offer:

  • Orienteering Xplorer challenge quiz around the park

  • Multisports

  • Outdoor gym tips

  • Tennis

  • A mile fun run or walk led by an instructor

This fun session aims to encourage people to introduce more exercise in their daily schedule and demonstrate that being active can be fun as well having many physical and mental benefits.
Councillor Janet Turner, Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Culture, said, “We are excited to support national fitness day and hope many residents will come along to celebrate leading a healthy and active lifestyle. There will be something to try for everyone but more importantly, it will be an opportunity for families and residents to share some active fun and experience something new in the relaxed and informal environment of a local park.”
