Following his election as Mayor of Elmbridge at the Annual Meeting of the Council on Wednesday 17 May, Councillor Richard Williams held his charity launch on Thursday 20 May. Councillor Richard Williams has chosen to support Oasis Childcare Centre Ltd.
The launch was held at Painshill Park, Cobham and was attended by representatives from local businesses and organisations, Adam Chalmers, Chief Executive of Elmbridge Borough Council, Caroline Edwards and Rose Leifer from Oasis and Elmbridge Councillors amongst others. Paul Griffiths, Director of Painshill Park, welcomed the Mayor and his guests.
Oasis aims to fully understand all the issues impacting the families who go to them and support them for as long as they need help, rather than offering assistance for a finite period of time which often yields little if no improvement at all.
The needs of families who go to Oasis have changed over the years which led them to adapt the nature of their support and the services they offer. Oasis may further evolve as societal and economic pressures change over time. Currently the services provided include outreach, signposting, advocacy, crisis support, emotional wellbeing, legal surgery, emergency help and children’s services.
The Mayor said “In my Mayoral year, I aim to help Oasis to increase their services and to assist the increasing number of families in Elmbridge who are in real need."
